"Plan
ahead" are the watch words of any successful move. Check
out our homebuyers checklist to help make your move go without
a hitch!
To
make your move easier to organise we have produced a checklist
of essential tasks to do before the move date. Moving house
requires a lot of organisation, so if possible get started a
good three months before you hope to move and stay ahead of
the game!
Finalise
the move date
Before
you exchange contracts make sure you are happy with the agreed
move date. Moving on a Friday, during school breaks, or Bank
Holiday weekends would give you plenty of time to unpack (although
due to heavy demand removals may be more costly).
Once
contracts have been exchanged, you can finalise:
Storage arrangements.
The removal company or van hire.
School registration for your children.
The new job you may be starting.
Holiday from work (if you need time off to move).
Overnight accommodation for the day of the move (if required).
Those items that you want to give away or sell.
Choose
an insurance provider
Your
new home will also need insuring and you should choose an insurance
provider to do this.
Arrange
disconnections and connections
When contacting the utility companies (telephone, electricity,
water) make sure you confirm the dates on which to discontinue/disconnect
your service. Ensure your new home has the connections ready for
the day you move in and check you are getting the best value services.
